From High-Tech to Interior Design
Prior to Becoming an Interior Designer, I worked in the High-Tech world managing Financial System installations for Fortune 500 companies. While remodeling my own home, I discovered I was more passionate about tile, lighting and paint colors than I was about the bits and bytes of computer software. Hence, a career change was in order! Since I knew formal education was important, I enrolled in UC Berkeley Extension’s Interior Architecture and Design program. In addition to formal education, I felt that it was also critical to augment classroom training with “real world” experience. I was fortunate to land an internship with a highly regarded Interior Design firm in San Francisco. And so my Interior Design journey began…
I worked with several designers in Marin County over the years, before launching my own design firm. One thing that I am able to carry with me from the High-Tech world to the Interior Design world is my Project Management skill set. Whether it’s a financial system implementation or a Kitchen Remodel, there’s a start and end date and tasks and people to manage along the way. If you are looking for someone to manage your project from design concept all the way through to installation, I’m the designer you’re looking for! I’m also happy to just do a design consultation, if you want to manage the process yourself and are simply looking for some initial information to get you kick started.
